Colds and Good Deals

Sleep. Rest. Not doing anything.

These are hard things to do once you’re so much into a routine, for me at least, but today- they’re necessary. My sinuses feel like they are filled to capacity and my headmay explode at any moment.

Thankfully, today is my day off, so this is what I’ll do:

Lay on my couch with my laptop and do “work”

Watch my two favorite sick/sad/happy movies

Drink water. Until I feel like a fish.

Compress my legs so I feel like I’m doing something running related.

But let’s face the facts here; I suck at sitting still, even when I feel like death I am bad at not moving, and not being productive. So I’ll probably go out to lunch, infect every one around me, and then come home to sleep.

Sorry world, you were bound to get sick sooner or later this year, just trying to speed up the process for you.

Speaking of Restaurants…

I bought all these gift certificates today…

PLUS a $50 one to be used on the site for more certificates.

For $25.00

$175 for $25

I really recommend you visit restaurant.com for some deals, especially if you’re like out and eat out more than most humans. Or if you like giving them as gifts because it doesn’t require you to think (that’s how I work).

I also bought some things off of living social and groupon, but that’s because we plan our lives so far in advance, and also because I’m cheap and don’t like paying full price for anything.

As you know; this weekend I’m running the Wineglass Half Marathon. I’ve never ran anything that required me to stay the night before, and since we are, it’s thrown a little kink in my routine. What do I pack? How am I going to make my one piece of toast? Will they have a coffee maker in the room? I know these are all silly, simple things, but seriously, how do you people do it?

Are you someone who travels for races? I need your help!

What I’ve learned is that they’re good deals if you actually use them. For a while I bought a ton that expired, now I only buy ones that I know for a fact we will use!

I have travelled for 2 races so far (driven both) and next week will be my first flyout for a race. But people in my group do it all the time.

Are you flying or driving? If driving – take everything with you. Toaster and Coffee maker included. lol.
If flying – call ahead and see what they have in the room.
Pack for all 3 weathers – Cold, Perfect, Hot. You’ll beforehand if its going to be an extreme cold/hot anyway.
Don’t check in your bag. Never check in your bag.
Wear your running shoes on the flight. Worst case, and they force you to checkin your bag and they lose it, you have the one piece of gear needed for you to run – your shoes. You can always shop for clothes at the expo in that worst case.

    Good Luck!!

We are driving, thankfully. Thanks for the advice- my toaster just got out on my packing list! I think my guy will kill me if I take the coffee maker though haha.

Feel better! I’ve had bad one this week too – and it’s all just blurgh.

Good luck with the hotel stuff. I bet they’ll have a toaster, or one you can borrow, if you call ahead. xx

Love the socks. I have traveled for races and I just bring the important stuff with me. So if toast is important to you, bring the toaster! Serious! Feel better soon and have fun at your race!

I hope you are feeling better, you are going to do great tomorrow!

I LOVE those compression socks and Lovin’ Cup is great! They have a really good curry chicken salad sandwich, I get it every time we go there.
