Bonus Time!

Hello friends!

I got my first bonus for my new position this past week, and I told myself that this was the only one I was going to spend frivolously, and I did.

Just to put it out there, I am 100% a Target person, I was in a bind for time.

Almost all of the stuff in those two bags are for running. Except the Walmart bag, that has a Bills shirt that I needed for work, and something else, but I forget what- obviously not important.

Now, I know that most of you none of you, are probably wondering why I didn’t buy actual clothing, since I need it. The answer is I didn’t want to, and some how I convinced myself I needed this stuff too. And I also had a really good motivated sales guy when I went in to buy shoes.

Ta-Da!

Wait, let me explain…

I wasn’t going to buy two watches, I bought the fancy GPS watch for when I’m running through NJ and need to know how far I’ve gone. I was being practical. The other one I bought not for $31.99, but for $5 at the Goodwill, so I can use that when I can’t figure out my fancy one. And after almost throwing the GPS one at a wall- the cheap watch also seems to be a practical buy.

The GPS watch is by Soleus; who apparently used to make Nike watches. It does what I need it to do, er.. I think, I haven’t used it yet. It’s supposed to give me splits and all that jazz. Until I found this video, 10 minutes ago, I was going to return it.

When I came home with all this GU, Pat became concerned that; 1) I lost my mind or 2) GU was going out of business. The first conclusion would be correct.

Nuun is one of our sponsors for RTB, I wanted to check it out first, because apparently I’m the last person on the planet to use it (or at least on my team). I needed to see how it would sit in my stomach, before I drank a million gallons.
This is what I found out:

  • It’s delicious
  • It worked better than Gatorade
  • It’s delicious

 Socks. Boring but necessary.

Meet my new best friend…

The Stick

You use it in lieu of a Foam Roller to get out any knots of sore spots. It’s wonderful and I may marry it.

Before I went to Fleet Feet, I had every intention of buying these gorgeous riding boots.

But then I bought these instead…

Brooks PureFlow – they’re nice and light like my last shoes, and they function, primarily, the same. They’re like an upgraded version of the Nike Free Run’s, which is great, they make my feet happy. It was time to take the next step in my relationship with running shoes, I think we moved in the right direction.

Also, fun fact, I found out my right foot is 3/4 of a size bigger than my left. How I didn’t notice before, I’m not sure, but numbers don’t lie.

As I try these things out I’ll be letting you know more about them. I’m sure that, once again, I’m way behind the times and these are old news; but old news is better than no news….right?

What did you do this weekend?

Have you used any of these products before?

Did I throw away money?

LOVE IT! Your running fever gets me motivated every morning because I always think, well she is getting up and out there. I think you deserved these, despite your wallet maybe screaming at you. Happens. I invest in my running shoes. That is my non negotiable that I give to myself.

You know that’s funny because every morning I think about how you’re getting out there to run way further than me, so I have no excuse. Running shoes really are an investment, and these ones were well worth it.

I wish I was more into running so I could justify buying fun things :)

I absolutely love the stick. I had one a few years ago before foam rolling was really popular, but then my friend broke it.. long story really.. and now I use a foam roller.

Also, I believe that every runner should have a GPS watch and a regular sport watch. I use my GPS watch for long runs, when I’m in a new place, and sometimes for speed work or tempo runs. For all other runs, I leave it behind and just enjoy running. I use my regular sport watch (which happens to be a Soleus watch), if I am doing a speed workout on the track.

I love the Balega Hidden Comfort socks, they are my fav, my local running store only has the lime colour, I’m jealous of all your colours!

Sorry for the extra long comment :)

One, I find no shame in your Walmart bag. I live waaaaay out in the country in a little town in NC and there is nothing else here. Plus, I’ve been out of work for a month and without Walmart I don’t know how we’d make it! But yes Target is nice, too. Until I get a job again or make trips the city, I’m Walmart all the way! I even wrote a blog post about it, lol. Two, that’s a great haul! I looooove Fleet Feet and stop there whenever I get a chance. Cute shoes!! :-D

Love this! The hubby and I took a trip to Atlanta (just the two of us) for the weekend – our first trip alone in 2 years (the joys of parenthood). Our first stop as at the Outlet Stores where I did some serious damage to my Ann Taylor credit card (new position means new clothes). But as much as I spent there, I went crazier at the Under Armour store. In spite of having two drawers full of running gear, I still purchased 6 new running outfits. “Hello, my name is Kim and I am addicted to running gear!”

[...] was Nuun, if you haven’t jumped on this band wagon yet, you should. I had tried it out before the race because I was nervous of how my stomach reacted and I liked it then, but now, I love [...]
