Weekend Catch-Up

Happy Monday friends! This isn’t just ANY Monday for me, it’s the last day before I go back to work. How cruel, just as I’m getting better and am able to move around, and start enjoying the time off, they expect me to go back. If I wasn’t afraid of ya know, my bank account being empty, I could totally get used to this whole not working thing. Fortunately for me, I love my job, bonus.

The best part has honestly been all of you. I’ve been able to spend a lot of time on blogging things, and I am thinking that I have some fantastic stuff  coming in the future.

One thing you probably don’t know about me is that I LOVE throwing parties. I don’t do it too much anymore but I take pride in every theme I have, and always go to the extreme to make it perfect. But one thing I’ve never done is throw a Bridal Shower.

But now I have.

I, of course, forgot to take pictures of the food; but here’s what I served:

  • Veggie pizza (pita bread, dill dip, broccoli, tomato, cheese)
  • Baby quesadillas
  • A fantastic fruit tray with fruit dip
  • Sweet and Spicy Turkey Meatballs
  • Bruschetta
  • Candy- mostly because I love candy, a lot.
  • 7-Up Punch
  • Wine (in a box, because I’m classy)
  • Cake
  • Cupcakes

The leftover fruit tray

I’m exceptionally lucky because at 10:30am, my mom and sister showed up at my apartment and said “okay, let’s get this done”, they helped me make the food and decorate the place. I don’t know if I could’ve gotten it all done in time without them. My apartment had streamers everywhere. In fact; everything got done so efficiently that for an hour before I was sitting on my couch watching                 Catch Me If You Can.

We played games.

The Bridal Party (minus me)

My mom and I are tissue-paper-flower making pro’s.

Then we went out for a little while.

Overall the night was a success and fun was had by all!

The next morning I discovered the perfect recovery method. I drank an entire liter of water and then went Blueberry picking! The sunshine, fresh air and good company helped me perk right up.

We picked 21.75 lbs of blueberries.

We took home 4 and then I packed some up and took them to my parents.

I’m going to spend today making my lunches for the week and you better believe I’ll be eating a lot of blueberries.

They have so many health benefits, not to mention they are delicious. Have you ever met anyone who doesn’t love them? This list has the top 10 benefits, and it’s very comprehensive, take a look!

My Weight Loss

This week I weighed in at 132.6- this means that since I had surgery I gained  .2lbs. It is not something I’m going to dwell over, I am going back to work this week and will be getting back into the swing of things with my eating and more importantly, I will be doing more than sleeping all day. I can’t start exercising for another 2 weeks but I imagine that simply adding regular movement back into my routine will help.

I’m also not going to spend my energy on a .2 gain because stress does not help weight loss. The worst thing I’ve ever done is stress over weight gain because that leads me to eat, or to sit around, or more importantly it causes me to sabotage myself. I really believe that every single day is a new game- some days we win, some days we lose, but every morning I wake up and start the game all over again. I am so optimistic about this week and I am really hoping that I hit my next mini goal of 130lbs, if I don’t, oh well, I will the week after. I have 13.6lbs to lose until I’m at my ultimate goal. Let’s get this done.

My total loss so far

OH! And I also almost forgot to tell you! I cut all my hair off!

Have you ever thrown a bridal shower? What did you do to make it perfect?

How much do you love blueberries? What is your favorite way to eat them?

Love the new haircut! Blueberries are also my favorite. In fact, right now, I have a tupperware full of them on my desk for snacking. I also love them with granola and yogurt for breakfast!

    Your haircut looks amazing!

I had to throw a bridal shower once–a wedding shower, really, since the bride wanted it to be coed with her husband-to-be. I was so stressed out about messing up and letting down one of my very best friends, but in the end everything worked out. Looks like everything worked out for you, too. :)

Wow, those are some big and yummy-looking blueberries! It’s strwebarry season here in Maine, and I just went picking last night came home with two big bowls full of juicy strawberries. Nothing beats local produce, especially when you do the hard work of picking it yourself.Enjoy your bounty!
