Foodie Penpals day is essentially Christmas once a month, with food, making it some of the happiest days of the year.
I always have my packages sent to my parents house, a) because things get stolen from my apartment building and b) I trust people a little more to not send anthrax if they know it’s going to my parents. Since starting with this program, my parents have figured out that each box contains something new and delicious, and in payment for their kindness, I always share my box with them.
Before I show you all the cool things I got, let me explain why you should join this program:
- Do you like food?
- Do you like getting packages in the mail?
- Do you like taking pictures of your food?
- Are you a blogger or a blog reader?
- Do you like meeting new people?
If you answered yes to any of these, you should go here and sign up for next month.
Lindsay is a really super awesome, friendly lady, who started and manages now over 1000 penpals. It really just blow my mind how she does it all, since I email her pretty regularly, I imagine everyone else does too.
So, before you officially sign up, read these rules and make sure you can commit 100%:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
My package this month came all the way from Utah! Beth is a blog reader- who is really good at sending packages.
Note: these are some of the worst pictures I’ve ever taken because my family was eating the food too fast.
when I spoke to Beth, I told her I eat on the go a lot, and she definitely got me goodies that helped me accomplish this, while being healthy. Of course, they would have been perfect for that if we hadn’t eaten it all. First I shared with my parents and then we took it on a hike, and next thing I knew, there wasn’t any to take to work, that’s okay because it was certainly enjoyed.
I sent my package to Sam, she had some requests that gave me a challenge, but I think she enjoyed the package of all Wegmans food.
Have you gone and signed up yet?
What is the best thing you have ever received in the mail?

I agree Christmas for sure! I freaking love those fruit rolls, I am sugar addict!
Wow!!! All of that looks super yummy! How was that smoothie??? Good? And I love your description of foodie pen pals…”Christmas once a month!”
We actually haven’t tried the smoothie yet, it’s the only thing remaining, I’m not sure why, maybe I’ll do that today!
I loved getting my foodie package (this was my first month!). It is great to see everyone else’s personality come through their boxes. Mine was filled with nut butter. yum. Those fruit leathers look so good!
The fruit leathers were more than delicious! My dad ate most of them before I told him to get his own.
Love that description – Christmas once a month! I definitely enjoy these boxes of tasty surprises, and it’s fun to come up with gifts for other foodie folks.
