Crafting and Cleaning

Hi friends! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday! According to Twitter maybe some of you have a little too fantastic of a holiday? But hey, that’s the American way!

I started my day like any other American, putting together the perfect red, white and blue ensemble:In all honesty, this is my go to patriotic outfit, I love it a lot. I really like the color combo red, white, and blue but whenever I wear it on a non-patriotic day I feel like a schmuck.

I went to Target and the PG-13 store (I’ll show you what’s in the bags later).

Me: I’m in the PG-13 Store

Kate: How does this make you feel?

Me: Very catholic

The belt on my skirt was sitting right on my incision (ouch) so when I got home I changed in the most patriotic shirt I own.

Side note: This shirt = 25 PBR’s drank in one sitting. Thanks Pat. (That’s love)

Then, we ate.

I don’t watch what I eat on holidays. I know a lot of you do, but I don’t. Holidays and vacations are off limits to dieting. It’s one day, it will not kill me to eat a hamburger and some really delicious potato salad. And brownies. And cake. And eclairs….

We go to the same party every year and it is always a relaxing time. They’re family friends, who I consider family, and we all just eat, swim and of course: drink.  My dad and I got to talk a little about my running plan for once I’m cleared and he informed me of a half at the beginning of November- I’ll definitely be able to train for that one so I’m glad I’ll be able to get one more in before the year is over this year. Other than the half I’m probably going to pack my schedule with 5k’s to work on speed.

What’s your race plan for the rest of the year?

Hey, have you seen this Pin floating around the web lately? The source is this site, I can’t find it anywhere on there, but the site is so jam packed full of awesomeness that I have no doubt that’s where it came from. If I’m wrong, let me know!

Anyway, I see this picture pretty much every time I turn on any technology so while I was walking through Target I just happened to stumbled upon all the water bottles and decided for the first time in my life, I would actually do something I pinned.

I bought one of these. Reasons: It’s clear, it isn’t made for a bicycle, and it was on clearance.

I also like their selling points:

  • Made in the USA
  • Certified BPA free
  • Made from recycled PET and 100% recyclable

I did modify the pin a little because I don’t want to haul two bottles around to work and I can easily fill it back up. I also didn’t use marker on the bottle, because, well, that makes me nervous.

I used regular clear tape for the lines and then with a pen wrote three different times on each piece. It indicates that by 9 am I should drink the first section and by 9pm at night I should be finished with three bottles worth of water. The bottle is 34 ounces (1 liter) so at the end of the day I will have drank 102 ounces or 3 liters of water. Unless I drown.

This is my kind of craft: two tools. Well actually three because I used a pen, but it rolled away before I could take the picture. I cut the tape the long way because the width was bothering me. The best part about using tape: I can adjust  it as many times as I want. If I decide I want to drink 4 liters a day I can fix it.

Three liters is a lot of water, I am by no means saying everyone else should drink this much. I literally pulled a number out of my head one day and settled on it because the amount I was drinking before wasn’t cutting it.

Another bonus: I won’t leave water glasses around the house anymore. I am who they modeled the little girl in Signs after.

How much water do you drink? How do you measure it?

I really need to clean my house. And by clean I mean I need to make it look like my Grandma is coming over. I can’t just shove stuff in drawers, I need to scrub, and vacuum, and stuff.

This is how much I don’t want to clean:

I promise I won’t call and I will do it myself, but I am so tempted.

Have you ever hired a maid?

I’ll feel better doing it myself, right?

I think holiday should be enjoyed not obsessed upon so when I am with family I totally enjoy the food. I tend to drink a lot of water but usually it has to be flavored so I live on the flavor packets or seltzer water. I drink A LOT just because I run each morning so I don’t want to be dehydrated.

At home I dispense water from my refrigerator. I know its measurement is a little off, so I actually get MORE than a cup per cup requested–I figure this is a plus! Then I am jealous about sharing because that will throw my count off.

I used to have a housekeeper before we bought this house, and I will again, darn it! I don’t think it is anything to be ashamed of.
